About Fuki Sushi
Fuki Sushi is a Japanese restaurant at 4119 El Camino Real in south Palo Alto. It is a full-service restaurant rather than a quick sushi counter, with several distinct dining spaces, private tatami rooms and an active catering and events business. The restaurant also takes orders online for pickup and delivery.
What sets Fuki apart from most sushi restaurants in town is its layout. Guests can sit at the sushi bar, in a skylit sun room, in a western-style main dining room or in one of several private tatami rooms. That range makes it as useful for a group dinner or a business meal as for a weeknight plate of sushi.
The dining rooms
The sushi bar is where you can watch the chefs work. Next to it is the Sun Room, which seats 50 and is lined with large shoji-screened windows and skylights. The restaurant says it gives an open-air feeling while keeping you close to the energy of the sushi bar.
The main dining room is ringed with shoji-lined window booths. The restaurant describes royal purple walls, traditional Japanese art and fresh flower arrangements. Its western-style seating works for a dinner for two or a party of up to 70.
The tatami rooms are the most distinctive part of the restaurant. These private rooms are decorated with ikebana flower arrangements, scrolls and artwork. Each has sliding doors for privacy, a server call button and a well under the table so guests can sit comfortably without kneeling. Individual rooms hold from 4 to 20 people. The restaurant recommends them for business meetings, special occasions and any meal where privacy matters.
What is on the menu
The menu covers the range of a traditional Japanese restaurant. Its online ordering menu is organized into sections such as sashimi à la carte, spicy rolls, vegetable sushi, soups and salads and rice and noodle dishes. There is also a sake list served by the bottle. The online menu was updated in 2026. It is the easiest place to check current dishes before you visit.
Vegetarians have a dedicated vegetable sushi section to choose from. Ask your server about other dietary needs before you order.
Catering and events
Catering is a big part of Fuki's business. Its catering page leads with sushi boats, handcrafted wooden boats filled with sashimi, nigiri and specialty rolls, often served alongside platters of traditional Japanese dishes. Sample menus on the website are sized for 10, 20, 25 and 30 guests. The restaurant also offers a private sushi chef for events.
Fuki runs private hands-on sushi-making workshops, which it pitches for team building, recruiting events and birthdays. In past workshops, guests learned to make five styles of sushi: temaki hand rolls, uramaki inside-out rolls, hosomaki thin rolls, gunkan and nigiri. The restaurant has also hosted public sake tasting classes. Event inquiries go to the restaurant's email address.
Who it suits
Fuki suits occasions where the room matters. A tatami room gives a business meeting or family celebration privacy that a regular dining room cannot. The main dining room can take a large party, up to 70 guests by the restaurant's count. Solo diners and couples can sit at the sushi bar. For an office lunch or a party at home, the catering menu and sushi boats are the simplest route.
