About Kitchen at Palo Alto
Kitchen at Palo Alto is the restaurant and bar inside the Hilton Garden Inn Palo Alto at 4216 El Camino Real. It serves hotel guests and outside diners alike. The restaurant makes a point of welcoming walk-ins, so you do not need to be staying at the hotel to eat or drink here.
The kitchen describes its food as traditional American fare with a Northern California twist, built around locally sourced ingredients. Its about page puts it more simply: American fare with local flair. The day runs from breakfast through happy hour to casual dinners. There is seating indoors and outdoors.
The hotel sits on El Camino Real in the south of the city. The restaurant's site notes that it is about three miles from Stanford University and Stanford's medical center, between San Francisco and San Jose.
Breakfast
Breakfast is the meal the menu covers in most detail. It runs from 6 to 10 a.m. on weekdays and from 7 to 11 a.m. on weekends. You can go for a full breakfast buffet, a lighter continental buffet or a grab-and-go bag if you are rushing to a meeting.
The plated menu covers the classics and a few lighter choices:
- Two eggs any style, a breakfast burrito and a veggie breakfast burrito
- A meat lover omelet and a garden egg white omelet
- A prosciutto and avocado everything bagel and a smoked salmon bagel
- Cinnamon swirl French toast and the Garden Waffle
- A mango coconut chia pudding bowl and overnight chia oats
When we checked the menu in October 2026, the full breakfast buffet was listed at $24.99, the continental buffet at $15.95 and the grab-and-go bag at $9. Plated dishes, from the chia bowls to the omelets, ran from $12 to $18. Prices change, so treat these as a rough guide.
Sides include bacon, sausage, chicken sausage, fruit, pastries, oatmeal and a yogurt parfait. Coffee and tea are included with breakfast. Juice, soda, iced tea and lemonade cost extra.
Dinner and the bar
The rest of the menu keeps to comfortable American plates. Dishes shown on the home page include a Chinese chicken salad with romaine, red cabbage, edamame, wonton noodles and almonds in a sesame ginger dressing; penne in tomato cream sauce with squash, zucchini, herbs and parmesan; and a breaded chicken sandwich with hot honey and arugula on a brioche bun, served with fries.
The bar pours draft beer, wine and crafted cocktails. House cocktails include a Mango Mojito, one called Kyler's Sun and another named after the restaurant, The Kitchen. The website's line for the bar is that every hour is happy there. There is a separate happy hour menu, though the site does not publish its times, so ask the bartender. Menus change, so check the website for the current versions.
Groups and events
The restaurant takes reservations for groups of every size through OpenTable. For bigger occasions, the hotel has more than 3,000 square feet of flexible event space. The website mentions corporate meetings, family reunions and larger gatherings, all supported by a catering staff and an event menu available as a PDF. That makes it a practical choice for a team offsite or a reception for out-of-town relatives who are staying at the hotel anyway.
