On this page
Hotel Citrine is one of the newest hotels in Palo Alto and one of the easiest to reach by car. It sits on San Antonio Road in the far southeast of the city, close to Highway 101 and a few blocks from the Mountain View line. It is a Marriott hotel in the Tribute Portfolio brand, with a casual restaurant, an outdoor dipping pool and modern rooms. It suits people with business at the tech campuses in Mountain View and along the Bayshore, concertgoers headed to Shoreline Amphitheatre and drivers who want quick freeway access.
This profile is based on Marriott's official pages and the 2021 opening announcement. We do not publish prices, star ratings or reviews. For live rates, check Hotel Citrine on Booking.com or book through Marriott.
Location
The hotel's address is 750 San Antonio Road, Palo Alto, in the 94303 ZIP code. That puts it on the commercial stretch of San Antonio Road near the Highway 101 interchange. Some booking sites label the hotel as Mountain View because the border is so close. It is inside Palo Alto, but it is far from downtown.
What that means in practice:
- Highway 101 is right there, so driving to San Francisco, San Jose or the airports is easy outside rush hour.
- Mountain View's tech campuses and Shoreline Amphitheatre are a short drive east.
- Downtown Palo Alto and University Avenue are roughly 4 miles away by road.
- Stanford's campus is a bit farther, depending on where you are going.
- The San Antonio Caltrain station in Mountain View is the nearest rail stop, around a mile away by road. Marriott's page points guests to the Palo Alto station.
Marriott lists the airports at about 12.4 miles to San Jose, 22.8 miles to San Francisco International and 30.5 miles to Oakland. The hotel does not run a shuttle. See getting to Palo Alto for airport routes.
The surrounding area is mostly offices, shops and housing rather than a walkable restaurant district. Plan on a car, a rideshare or a short drive for most outings. The South Palo Alto guide explains this part of the city.
Opening and brand
Hotel Citrine opened in June 2021. The opening announcement described 150 guest rooms and suites, developed by T2 Hospitality and managed at opening by Evolution Hospitality, part of Aimbridge Hospitality. It shares its site with the AC Hotel Palo Alto, another Marriott brand, which opened the spring before.
Tribute Portfolio is Marriott's collection of hotels that keep their own names and personalities. That is why Citrine does not look or feel like a standard Marriott. Stays still earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points, which matters to many business travelers.
Rooms
The opening announcement stressed eco-friendly finishes: cork headboards, terrazzo flooring, rain showers and antique brass fixtures, with sustainable bedding and towels. Rooms have 55-inch televisions with streaming connections and organic bath products. Deluxe King rooms and One Bedroom Suites have balconies.
- Check-in and checkout. Marriott lists check-in at 3 p.m. and checkout at noon.
- Minimum age. Guests must be at least 21 to check in, older than at many hotels.
- Accessibility. Marriott lists mobility-accessible rooms with roll-in showers and hearing-accessible rooms. The pool has a lift or sloped entry.
- Smoke-free. The whole property is nonsmoking.
Wi-Fi is free for Marriott Bonvoy members. Joining the program is free, so sign up before you book if you are not a member.
Wild Onion and the AC Lounge
The hotel's restaurant is Wild Onion Bistro and Bar. Marriott describes casual California food with a farm-to-table focus, plus cocktails and local wines. It serves breakfast in the morning, then lunch and dinner. Reservations go through OpenTable. Marriott's dining page also notes three hours of complimentary valet parking with validation for restaurant guests, which is useful if you are meeting someone there.
Next door, the AC Lounge at the sister hotel serves European-style pastries and Italian coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. Room service is not offered, according to Marriott's dining page.
For a wider choice, the restaurants of California Avenue, Castro Street in Mountain View and downtown Palo Alto are each a short drive away. Our guide to food and drink in Palo Alto can help you choose.
Pool, fitness and parking
- Pool. An outdoor dipping pool with cabanas and palapas. It is a place to cool off and lounge rather than swim laps.
- Fitness. A 24-hour fitness center with Peloton bikes, cardio machines, TRX equipment and yoga mats.
- Meetings. The opening announcement described flexible indoor and outdoor space, with the larger meeting room opening onto a 590-square-foot patio. It suits small groups rather than conferences.
- Pets. Up to two pets per room, each up to 50 pounds, for a nonrefundable fee per stay. Service animals are welcome without a fee.
- Parking. Marriott lists both self parking and valet for a fee, plus electric car charging subject to availability.
Fees and policies change. Check Marriott's page for Hotel Citrine before you book.
What is nearby
The hotel is best used as a base for trips by car. Some easy outings:
- Shoreline Park and Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, a short drive east, for bay walks or summer concerts.
- The Palo Alto Baylands, a few miles north, for marsh trails and birding.
- Mitchell Park and its Magical Bridge Playground, a short drive west, good for families.
- California Avenue, Palo Alto's second main street, with its Sunday farmers market.

Who should stay here
Hotel Citrine is a good fit for:
- Business travelers visiting companies in Mountain View or along Highway 101.
- Concertgoers at Shoreline Amphitheatre who want to avoid a long drive home.
- Drivers on a Peninsula road trip who value freeway access and on-site parking.
- Marriott Bonvoy members who want a newer hotel in Palo Alto.
- Travelers with small or medium-sized dogs.
It is a weaker fit for first-time visitors who want to walk to restaurants, ride Caltrain every day or stay close to Stanford. For those trips, compare downtown hotels or the hotels on El Camino Real near campus.
Booking tips
- Check for Shoreline concert nights. Big shows and tech events in Mountain View can push up rates nearby.
- Compare with the AC Hotel next door. Both are Marriott hotels on the same site, so one may have better availability on a given night.
- Budget for parking. Parking is charged by the day. A rental car is useful here; you can compare rental cars with Discover Cars.
- Mind the minimum age. Guests must be 21 to check in.
