On this page
Aloft Mountain View is a Marriott hotel on East El Camino Real, at the southeast edge of Mountain View where the city meets Sunnyvale. It is a modern, compact hotel built around a social lobby: a lounge with a bar, a game room, a grab-and-go pantry and an outdoor pool. Marriott pitches it at people working at Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft and the other campuses of the area. For a Palo Alto visitor it is an outer option. It works best when you have a car, when Palo Alto's own hotels are full or when your days are split between Stanford and the South Bay.
This profile is based on Marriott's official page for the hotel, checked in early November 2026. We do not publish star ratings or reviews. Fees below are what Marriott listed at the time and can change, so check them again before you pay. For live rates, check Aloft Mountain View on Booking.com or book with Marriott.
Location and distances
The address is 840 East El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040. The hotel sits on a busy commercial stretch of El Camino Real east of downtown Mountain View, close to the Sunnyvale city line. Shops, gas stations and offices line the road. It is not a walking district, but the main roads in every direction are close.
| Destination | Straight line | By car (outside rush hour) |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown Palo Alto (University Avenue) | About 7.3 miles | 8 to 10 miles, 20 to 30 minutes |
| Stanford Main Quad | About 6.9 miles | About 7.5 miles, 20 to 30 minutes |
| Mountain View Caltrain station | About 1.5 miles | About 1.8 miles, 5 to 10 minutes |
| Sunnyvale Caltrain station | About 1.7 miles | About 2.6 miles, 5 to 10 minutes |
| San Jose airport (SJC) | Marriott lists 10.8 miles | |
| San Francisco airport (SFO) | Marriott lists 25 miles | |
Drive times grow fast at rush hour. El Camino Real and Highway 101 both slow to a crawl on weekday mornings and evenings, so allow 40 minutes or more to reach Stanford at 8:30 a.m. Our guide to traffic and rush hour explains the worst windows.
Getting to Palo Alto without a car
The hotel is not close enough to Caltrain to call it a train hotel. The Mountain View station is about 1.5 miles away, a 30-minute walk or a short rideshare. From there, trains reach Palo Alto in about 7 minutes and the trip stays inside one fare zone. On weekdays the free Marguerite shuttle runs from Palo Alto station to the Stanford campus.
Marriott also lists the Mountain View Transit Center for buses and the Whisman VTA light rail station as nearby transit. There is no hotel shuttle to either airport. Marriott suggests rideshare and quotes about $25 one way to SJC. Our San Jose airport guide covers the transit route.
Rooms
Marriott does not publish a room count on its page. It lists standard guest rooms, suites including a Savvy Suite, rooms with a view of the pool and accessible rooms, including mobility-accessible options. Aloft rooms are designed to be compact and bright, with a work surface, large windows and plenty of outlets for laptops and phones.
- Check-in and checkout. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and checkout at noon.
- Minimum age. Guests must be 18 to check in.
- Housekeeping. Marriott lists housekeeping every other day, so ask the front desk if you want daily service.
- Wi-Fi. Free for Marriott Bonvoy members. Joining is free.
- Mobile key. Bonvoy members can use a phone as a room key.
- Smoking. The property is smoke-free.
Pool, parking, EV charging and pets
For a hotel of this size, Aloft Mountain View covers most practical needs. Here is what Marriott lists:
- Pool. The Splash outdoor pool. Marriott does not post hours on its overview page, so ask at check-in.
- Fitness. The Re:charge gym, free for guests.
- Parking. Self parking on site for a daily fee. Marriott listed $15 a day in early November 2026, plus a $5 day rate for local guests. Valet is not listed.
- EV charging. Chargers for guest use at a daily fee, listed as $15 a day plus the cost of the power used. That adds up, so compare with the public chargers in our EV charging guide.
- Pets. Up to two pets per room, up to 50 pounds each, for a nonrefundable fee per stay (listed at $50 in November 2026).
- Laundry. Guest laundry on site plus valet dry cleaning.
- Meetings. A business center and meeting space for small groups.
Check the official Marriott page before you travel. Parking, pet and charging fees are the details most likely to change.
Dining on site
There is no full restaurant. The WXYZ Bar and Lounge is the hotel's social space, open nightly from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. with drinks and light bites. Marriott's page also says a hot breakfast is served until 10 a.m. daily, while its FAQ states that breakfast is not free. Read that as a paid breakfast and plan accordingly. Re:fuel, the lobby pantry, sells snacks, drinks and simple grab-and-go food 24 hours a day. Coffee and tea are free in the lobby.
Food nearby
For a proper dinner, drive or ride to downtown Mountain View. Castro Street is roughly 2 miles west and has one of the longest restaurant rows on the Peninsula. These places were confirmed open in our Mountain View food guide in late October 2026:
- Oren's Hummus at 126 Castro Street, Israeli-style hummus and grilled plates.
- Blue Line Pizza at 146 Castro Street, Chicago-style deep dish.
- Amarin Thai Cuisine at 147 Castro Street, one of the longest-running restaurants downtown.
- Scratch at 401 Castro Street, American food with a patio.
- Red Rock Coffee at 201 Castro Street for coffee and work sessions.
Murphy Avenue in downtown Sunnyvale is a similar distance to the east, with Turkish, Mayan and Middle Eastern restaurants on a car-free block by the train station.
Who Aloft Mountain View suits
- Business travelers with meetings in Mountain View, Sunnyvale or along Highway 101 who want a Marriott and a car.
- Dog owners with pets up to 50 pounds.
- Families visiting El Camino Hospital, whose Mountain View campus is roughly a mile away. Our El Camino Hospital page has visitor details.
- Bonvoy members who want points for a short, practical stay.
It is a weak fit for visitors who want to walk to dinner or ride Caltrain every day. For those trips, a hotel near a station or in downtown Palo Alto is the better bet. Our guide to staying in Menlo Park or Mountain View compares the options.
Booking tips
- Count the parking fee. Add the daily charge to the nightly rate when you compare hotels. Some nearby hotels include parking.
- Mind tech events and Shoreline concerts. Big conferences and summer shows push up Mountain View rates. Weekends are often cheaper than Monday to Thursday.
- Check breakfast terms. Some rates include breakfast and many do not.
- Ask about the pool. Outdoor pool hours and any seasonal closures are not posted online.
- Compare across brands. You can compare Mountain View hotels on Expedia to see how Aloft stacks up on your dates.
