TETRA Hotel, Autograph Collection

TETRA Hotel is an upscale Marriott hotel in Moffett Park, the corporate district in north Sunnyvale where many of Silicon Valley's newest office campuses stand. It belongs to the Autograph Collection, Marriott's group of independent-minded hotels. It opened in March 2022 with 186 rooms, including 14 suites, on eight floors. The design is dark and calm, with wood slats, art pieces and bathrooms set in translucent glass boxes. Its sister hotel, the AC Hotel Sunnyvale Moffett Park, stands next door, joined by a shared courtyard called the Nexus.

For Palo Alto visitors, TETRA is a drive-in option about 8 miles southeast of downtown. It suits business trips to Moffett Park and travelers who want a design hotel with a strong bar. Location and distances

The address is 400 West Java Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94089. Java Drive is a street of office campuses in Moffett Park, near Mathilda Avenue and a short drive from Moffett Field. Expect offices and parking structures around the hotel rather than shops. Highway 101 and Highway 237 are both close.

Marriott names the Java and Bordeaux bus stop as the nearest transit and Sunnyvale station as the nearest Caltrain stop. There is no hotel shuttle. Our San Jose airport guide explains the easiest airport for this hotel.

Moffett Field, with its huge Hangar One, lies just west of Moffett Park. NASA Ames does not run public tours, but the Moffett Field Historical Society Museum is open to visitors who meet its ID rules. Levi's Stadium and California's Great America in Santa Clara are a short drive east, which makes this hotel a reasonable base for a game or concert there as well.

Reaching Palo Alto and Stanford

Most guests drive or use rideshare. By car, Highway 101 north is the quickest route to Palo Alto, followed by University Avenue or Embarcadero Road into town. Rush hour can double the time, so leave early for morning meetings at Stanford. Our rush hour guide has the details.

By train, take a rideshare to Sunnyvale station by Murphy Avenue, then Caltrain north. Sunnyvale is in the same fare zone as Palo Alto and the ride takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Rooms

The 2022 announcement described 186 guest rooms, including 14 suites. Marriott's page lists guest rooms and suites plus mobility-accessible and hearing-accessible rooms but does not break down every category online. The design firm Gabellini Sheppard handled the interiors. Rooms have leather headboards and glass-walled bathrooms, which look striking but offer less privacy than a solid wall when sharing with a colleague.

• Check-in and checkout. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and checkout at noon.
• Minimum age. Guests must be 21 to check in.
• Wi-Fi. Free for Marriott Bonvoy members, who can join for free.
• Room service. Marriott lists room service.

Pool, fitness, parking, EV charging and pets

• Pool. An outdoor heated pool, called the Terrace Pool, surrounded by olive trees.
• Fitness. A free fitness center with Peloton bikes, weights and a space for meditation.
• Parking. On-site parking for an hourly or daily fee. Marriott listed $5 an hour or $28 a day in early November 2026.
• EV charging. Available, subject to availability. Ask about any extra charge.
• Pets. Up to two pets per room, each up to 25 pounds, for a nonrefundable fee per room per stay (listed at $150).
• Meetings. The opening announcement described about 9,000 square feet of meeting space, including three tech-equipped meeting rooms.

One more thing to check: Marriott's page has carried a notice that TETRA, the AC Hotel and their restaurants close to the public for private events on some dates. Check the official Marriott page for notices before you book.

Dining and drinks on site

• Adrestia is the main restaurant, with an American menu shaped by Asian flavors and Japanese ingredients. At opening it served dinner daily.
• Nokori is a Japanese whisky bar on the lobby level, with highballs, premium whiskies, sake, Japanese beers and Japanese-inspired small plates.
• NEXUS Cafe by TETRA serves coffee, tea and grab-and-go food in the daytime.

The opening announcement also mentioned art throughout the public spaces: hanging sculptures over the bar, a canopy tree piece and sculptures in the Nexus courtyard. A live-edge wood communal table near reception works as an informal place to meet. If you are hosting a client, Nokori's highballs and small plates make an easy first stop before dinner at Adrestia, with no need to move the car.

Hours change by season, so check them on arrival. The AC Kitchen and AC Lounge at the sister hotel next door add breakfast, tapas and drinks.

Food nearby

Moffett Park is mostly offices, so evening options right outside the door are limited. For dinner off site, drive about 10 minutes south to Murphy Avenue in downtown Sunnyvale. • Owners of small pets under 25 pounds.

Booking tips

1. Compare both sister hotels. TETRA and the AC Hotel next door share a site, so check both for the same night.
2. Look at weekends. Business districts often price lower on Friday and Saturday nights.
3. Count parking. Add the daily parking fee to the room rate.
4. Check the pet weight limit. 25 pounds is lower than at many hotels.
