Signature Inn Mountain View is one of the newest hotel names near Palo Alto and one of the simplest. Sonesta announced its opening on April 1, 2026: a 31-room, upper-economy hotel on El Camino Real in Mountain View, part of its Signature Inn brand, which leans on mid-century, retro-modern styling. The extras are few but cheap. Parking is $5 a day and pets stay for $25 a night with no weight limit. Downtown Palo Alto is about 5 miles away.

This profile is based on Sonesta's official page for the hotel and its opening announcement, both checked November 1, 2026. We do not publish prices, star ratings or reviews. What a Signature Inn is

Signature Inn is one of Sonesta's value brands, alongside Americas Best Value Inn and Red Lion. Sonesta says the brand "summons the golden age of travel" with a retro-modern twist and mid-century design influences. It pitches the brand against upper economy and midscale hotels. In practice that means a clean, simple room with a few modern touches rather than a full-service hotel. Sonesta has opened several Signature Inns in California recently, including San Jose in January 2025 and Merced in January 2026. The Mountain View hotel opened in April 2026, so expect fresh rooms but little in the way of a track record.

Location

The address is 1665 W. El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040. This is the west end of Mountain View's El Camino Real, between downtown Mountain View and the San Antonio shopping area. It is a commercial strip of motels, restaurants, car lots and apartment buildings. The Holiday Inn Express Mountain View - S Palo Alto is a short walk east on the same stretch.

Getting there

Two Caltrain stations are within about a mile and a half. Mountain View station is an express stop with VTA light rail. San Antonio station is served by local and limited trains only. From either, a rideshare is the easy last link. VTA buses also run on El Camino Real.

  • From SJC: about 20 minutes by car, the closer airport. Our SJC guide covers transit.
  • From SFO: about 30 to 40 minutes down Highway 101 without traffic, or BART to Millbrae and Caltrain south.

Sonesta's page does not list an airport shuttle.

Rooms

Sonesta's opening announcement gives a total of 31 rooms. Its hotel page lists these in-room features:

  • Free Wi-Fi and free local calls.
  • Cable TV with HBO.
  • A desk with a chair and a large workspace.
  • A mini refrigerator.
  • An AM/FM radio.

Every room is pet friendly, according to Sonesta. Children 17 and under stay free in their parents' room using existing bedding. An extra adult costs $10 a night and a rollaway bed is $15 on request. The hotel is 100% smoke free. Sonesta's page does not list room sizes or bed types, so check the booking screen for the categories on sale for your dates. If you need an accessible room, call the hotel to confirm its features before you book.

Parking, pets and amenities

  • Parking. On site for $5 per day.
  • Pets. $25 per night, one pet per room, no weight restrictions.
  • Coffee and tea. Free in the lobby daily, 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Wi-Fi. Free throughout the hotel.
  • Groups. Group room rates on request through Sonesta.

Check-in and policies

  • Check-in and checkout. 3 p.m. and 11 a.m.
  • Early and late. Early check-in is $30. Late checkout until 3 p.m. is $40. Both depend on availability.
  • ID. The cardholder must be present at check-in with valid ID.
  • Cancellation. Cancel by 3 p.m. the day before arrival to avoid a one-night charge. Exceptions may apply.

Sonesta lists the hotel's phone as (650) 969-9641.

Food nearby

Without breakfast on site, a mini-fridge and the lobby coffee will carry you only so far. El Camino Real has casual restaurants, cafes and takeout in both directions. San Antonio Shopping Center, west along El Camino Real, has groceries and more restaurants. Castro Street, Mountain View's main dining street, is a short drive or bus ride east. Our Mountain View food guide covers the options.

Using it as a Palo Alto base

The hotel is about 5 miles from downtown Palo Alto and about the same from Stanford. By car, El Camino Real runs straight there in 15 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic and lights. Parking downtown is in city garages and lots with free time limits; our Palo Alto parking guide explains the rules. Stanford charges for visitor parking on most of campus.

By train, take a short ride to Mountain View or San Antonio station and Caltrain north to Palo Alto, which is in the same fare zone. On weekdays, the free Marguerite shuttle continues from Palo Alto station to campus. Rush hour on El Camino Real and Highway 101 can double drive times, so the train is often the calmer choice for morning appointments.

Who Signature Inn suits

  • Budget travelers who want a newly opened brand hotel at the low end of the market.
  • Pet owners, especially with a large dog, since there is no weight limit.
  • Drivers who want cheap on-site parking.
  • Sonesta Travel Pass members.

It is less suited to travelers who want breakfast, a pool or a gym, or to anyone planning to walk to Caltrain every day. For more low-cost stays, see our budget stays guide.

Booking tips

  1. Bring one pet only. The limit is one per room.

  3. Mind the cancellation time. The cutoff is 3 p.m. the day before you arrive.
  4. Compare the block. The Holiday Inn Express a short walk away includes breakfast. Check budget hotel deals on Agoda for both.
