For more than two decades GGV Capital was known as a bridge between Silicon Valley and Asia, with partners in Menlo Park, Shanghai and later Singapore. In March 2024 that bridge came apart. The Asia team became Granite Asia and the U.S. team became Notable Capital. Notable still works from GGV's long-time address at 3000 Sand Hill Road, the office campus that became shorthand for the whole venture industry.

This profile is a neutral explainer. It draws on Notable's website, GGV's announcement and published reporting, with sources named where figures appear. For background on how venture capital works, start with our venture capital guide.

GGV Capital, 2000 to 2024

GGV Capital was founded in 2000 as Granite Global Ventures, with headquarters in Menlo Park, according to published histories. In 2005 investor Jenny Lee opened its Shanghai office, which marked its expansion into mainland China. A Singapore office followed in 2019. By 2022 the firm managed about $9 billion, TechCrunch reported.

The firm became one of the most active American investors in Chinese technology, including AI companies, according to reporting in The Economist and research from Georgetown's Center for Security and Emerging Technology. That exposure brought scrutiny. In July 2023 a House select committee on competition with China announced a review of several venture firms' China investments, including GGV.

In September 2023 GGV said it would separate its U.S. and Asia businesses. On March 29, 2024, it stopped using the GGV brand. Sequoia Capital had taken a similar step in 2023, splitting off its China and India businesses. Our Sequoia Capital profile covers that split.

Notable Capital and Granite Asia

TechCrunch reported on April 1, 2024 that Hans Tung announced the U.S. team's new name, Notable Capital, on X. Jenny Lee and Jixun Foo rebranded the Singapore-based team as Granite Asia. The two firms now operate separately:

According to TechCrunch, the Notable partners had been based in the Menlo Park office for many years. A separate China operation overseen by Eric Xu continued under the original firm's independently run structure, the same report said.

The office at 3000 Sand Hill Road

Notable's privacy policy gives its mailing address as 3000 Sand Hill Road, Building 4, Suite 230, Menlo Park, CA 94025. That is the same campus where IVP lists its Silicon Valley office in Building 2. GGV's statement on the split said Notable also has offices in San Francisco and New York.

The campus was built in phases from 1971 to 1986 and has been owned by DivcoWest since 2020, which calls it The Ranch. Our page on 3000 Sand Hill Road tells its story. The offices are private. The campus cafe is open to the public on weekdays. Rosewood Sand Hill is a short drive east for a meal or a meeting.

Focus and approach

Notable says it invests in "notable founders with global ambitions." Its website groups support into a few areas:

  • Hiring. Executive recruiters who help companies fill senior roles.
  • Sales. A team that connects companies with large enterprise buyers such as security and engineering leaders.
  • Leadership. A program called Founders + Leaders for founders and their management teams.
  • Storytelling. Help with positioning, press and product marketing.
  • Engineering. A former founder and CTO who works with portfolio engineering teams.

It also runs N1, which it describes as a growth engine for early-stage startups. It also runs the NextGen AI Fellowship. Notable says the fellowship brought 30 college students to San Francisco for summer internships at its portfolio companies in 2025. The firm's recent writing focuses on AI infrastructure, developer tools, security and consumer AI.

Notable investments

Notable's homepage features founders including Guillermo Rauch of Vercel, Dario and Daniela Amodei of Anthropic, Garrett Lord of Handshake and Zhang Yiming of ByteDance. Some of those relationships date from the GGV years.

In a January 7, 2026 recap of 2025, the firm said it made eight new investments that year, including Anthropic, Browserbase, Clover Security, dub, Phia and Wispr. It made follow-on investments in fal, Quince, Vercel and Descope. It also celebrated exits:

  • The completion of HashiCorp's $7.7 billion acquisition by IBM.
  • Neon's $1 billion acquisition by Databricks.
  • Nozomi Networks' $1 billion acquisition by Mitsubishi Electric.

TechCrunch's 2024 report linked the Notable partners to earlier GGV deals. Hans Tung's included Airbnb, StockX and Slack. Jeff Richards backed Coinbase, Tile and Handshake. Glenn Solomon's deals included HashiCorp and Opendoor. In a post on the firm's site, Solomon wrote that Notable was leading the seed round of Superlogical, a new company from HashiCorp co-founder Mitchell Hashimoto.

Funds and size

TechCrunch reported in April 2024 that GGV had announced $2.5 billion for a new family of funds about two and a half years earlier, its largest ever. When the firm split, assets were divided so that Notable managed roughly $4.2 billion and Granite Asia about $5 billion. We have not found a separate Notable fund announcement since the split, so we do not give a newer figure.

Notable in the local ecosystem

The GGV split shows how world politics can reach a quiet office park in Menlo Park. For years, investing across the Pacific was a selling point for firms on Sand Hill Road. By 2023 it had become a source of political and regulatory pressure. Two of the best known cross-border firms, Sequoia and GGV, reorganized within months of each other.

For local founders the change is mostly about focus. Notable is now a U.S.-centered firm with Israel, Europe and Latin America as its other regions. Founders building in Asia now deal with Granite Asia or other regional firms instead. Our history of venture capital on the Peninsula places the split in the longer story of the industry.

How founders reach Notable

Notable's contact page has a short form that asks visitors to send a note. Its people pages show each investor's focus. Practical steps:

  1. Read the portfolio and recent writing to see which partner covers your area, such as developer tools, security or consumer AI.
  2. Use the contact form or ask a founder or co-investor who knows the firm for an introduction.
  3. Explain why your company has global ambitions, since that is the phrase the firm uses for the founders it backs.

Our pitching guide and term sheet basics cover the rest of the process.
