For years a Warriors game meant a drive to Oakland. Since 2019 the team has played at Chase Center in San Francisco's Mission Bay, which changed the trip for Palo Alto fans. Caltrain's last stop at 4th and King is about a 15 to 20 minute walk from the arena. A weeknight game is now a train ride, a basketball game and a train ride home, with no bridge toll and no Oakland parking lot.
This page is about the team: the 2026 to 2027 season as of November 2, the dates worth planning around, getting there, tickets, families and where to watch locally. For the arena itself, including bag rules and the plaza outside, see our guide to Chase Center. The arena is also home to the WNBA's Golden State Valkyries, who won the 2026 WNBA title there on October 31.
Where the season stands
The 2026 to 2027 season is only a couple of weeks old. The Warriors opened on Wednesday, October 21, against Luka Dončić and the Lakers in Los Angeles, a national ESPN game. Two nights later they lost their home opener 111 to 108 to the Memphis Grizzlies at Chase Center, according to the team's recap. Then came a three-game road trip to Phoenix, Denver and Minnesota.
This is Stephen Curry's 18th NBA season, all with Golden State. The NBA's schedule release says the 82-game regular season ends on Sunday, April 11, 2027, with every team in action. NBC Sports Bay Area's schedule summary lists the Warriors' finale as a home game against the Utah Jazz. Golden State has 28 nationally televised games this season and 15 back-to-back sets.

Getting there from Palo Alto
By Caltrain
Ride Caltrain north to San Francisco 4th and King. Express trains take about 39 minutes from Palo Alto in the early November 2026 timetable. Caltrain's events page gives two ways to finish the trip:
- Walk. Head east on 4th Street, turn left on Gene Friend Way and continue to Warriors Way. Caltrain puts the walk at 15 to 20 minutes.
- Ride Muni. Board the T Third line on 4th Street toward Sunnydale for a short ride to the arena's stop.
Most games tip off at 7 or 7:30 p.m. and end around 9:30 p.m. That leaves time for a southbound train, but the platforms crowd quickly after a sellout. If you would rather not rush, have a bite near the station and take a later train. Check the last train before you leave home. Our Caltrain guide and Palo Alto to San Francisco guide cover the details.
By car
The drive is about 33 miles via US 101. On a weeknight you will meet the evening commute heading north and the arena crowd at the end. Garages in Mission Bay charge event rates and fill up. Many Peninsula fans drive to a Caltrain station with parking and ride in, which costs less than city event parking and avoids the exit line.
Tickets and cheaper seats
The Warriors sell tickets through their own site, with single games, mini plans and group tickets. Chase Center events use mobile tickets from Ticketmaster. Prices follow demand. The gap between a Tuesday against a rebuilding team and a Saturday against the Lakers can be very large. Any price you see is a snapshot.
- Choose the opponent and night. Midweek games against teams without a star draw usually cost less. Christmas Day, the Lakers and the Celtics are at the other end.
- Go high. Upper bowl seats in the 200 level are the usual budget option. Corners can be cheaper than center court rows at the same height.
- Check close to tip-off. Resale prices sometimes drop on the afternoon of a game that has not sold out. That is not guaranteed for popular games.
- Stick to official channels. Buy from the team or a marketplace with buyer protection so the ticket transfers properly to your phone.
To compare available seats across the season, you can search Warriors tickets on Ticketmaster, then check the arena's entry times on the team site.
Tips for families
NBA games are loud, bright and full of breaks for music and contests, which keeps many kids interested. Thrive City, the plaza next to the arena, has places to eat before the game. Weekend afternoon games, when the schedule has them, are the easiest choice for younger children.
- Check the arena's ticket rules for small children on the team site before you buy.
- Arrive when the doors open to watch warmups. Curry's pre-game shooting routine is a show in itself.
- Plan the train home. A 7:30 p.m. tip-off means getting back to Palo Alto close to 11 p.m.
For basketball that ends earlier and costs less, Stanford's men's and women's teams play at Maples Pavilion in Palo Alto. See our guide to Stanford women's basketball.

A short team history
The Warriors began in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors in the Basketball Association of America, a forerunner of the NBA. They won the league's first championship in 1947 and another in 1956. Wilt Chamberlain scored his 100-point game for the Philadelphia Warriors in 1962. That same year the team moved to San Francisco, where it played at the Cow Palace and the Civic Auditorium.
In 1971 the team moved across the bay to the Oakland arena and became the Golden State Warriors, a name meant to represent the whole state. Rick Barry led them to a sweep in the 1975 Finals. The long Oakland years that followed had more losing than winning, until a team built around Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green won titles in 2015, 2017 and 2018. Kevin Durant joined for the last two.
The Warriors left Oakland after the 2019 Finals and opened Chase Center that fall. They won a seventh championship in 2022, their first since the move. The team's success also helped bring the WNBA back to the Bay Area. The Valkyries began play at Chase Center in 2025 and won the title in their second season.
